tempe public market // local fav

hello.

(side note, starting a blog post is weird! do i start with a hello? do i just jump into it? should i ask how you are? there really needs to be a uniform way of doing this!)

recently my friend Cheyenne and i went over to tempe public market. i have been waiting (not so patiently) for this place to open as it is only 0.4 miles from my house!

it took us about an hour to get from the back of the line to the counter, but all was good because we had time time to catch-up on our busy lives (seriously, I swear neither of us have time to even sit down!)

i got a super awesome kale Caesar salad and Cheyenne got the rice bowl. we were trying to be good so we split one of their (to die for) blue berry pop-tarts.

we had an entire mini photoshoot while Cheyenne tried the pop-tart for the first time (and when I mean photoshoot I mean photoshoot; I got up from our table and was crouching and standing on my toes and instructing her how to eat the pop-tart) and when we were almost done a server came up to us and said “I love this, this is everything, keep going!” Needless to say she wasn’t the only one who noticed our shenanigans.

the overall atmosphere of the place is great, you can really see the community vibe that they were envisioning when opening it. because of the new-ness it’s extremely crowded but I’m excited for the day we can walk in, get our food and get to know the bartenders because this is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood.

have you been to tempe public market? did you even know it existed?

az flower bar // local fav

hello, happy to have you here ❤

after our adventures at the ice cream art experience we happened to stumble upon this adorable shop: az flower bar

the reason we walked in was because I have been absolutely plant obsessed for the last few months (unfortunately some plants have bitten the biscuit in this process but a lot haven’t!!). from the street I could see a cart full of succulents and I just couldn’t allow myself to keep walking.

we were delighted to find out there not only is this a plant shop, but they also do weddings/events AND they host workshops! i know this is something i’ll be doing in the coming months. #plantmom

cheyenne decided to get some special sugar (i think it had rose in it. if you wanna know more go bombard her instagram!)KAW_4584KAW_4602

i ended up buying one of these small head planters because i’d been in search of one forever! (and this one was only $10….like what… come again… $10!!)

do you have a green thumb? or does everything just die around you? let me know!

the art of ice cream // local fav

welcome to instagram heaven ladies and gents.

this weekend myself, katelyn and cheyenne decided to take in the art of ice cream experience in scottsdale and boy do we have instagram content for the next year.

what is the art of ice cream you may ask. well good question because we weren’t 100% sure when we decided to go. essentially it is 7-ish rooms filled with interesting art inspired by ice cream. throughout your tour you are able to sample different forms of ice cream and are encouraged to take pictures. for reference, the three of us took about an hour to go through the entire thing (keep in mind we stopped in each room and even went back to some to get better shots).

the first room featured an ice cream boxing ring with some cute cone gloves.

second was a “popsicle” room ft. this cool spray painted wall (ps. how ADORABLE are my friends? serious professional models here)

the third room featured a (deeper than i thought) ball pit. this was really the only “activity” in the exhibit and we actually ended up coming to this last as there were a bunch of kids playing in it the first time.

upstairs was my 70s DREAM. the pictures from this room were probably my favorite because of the yellow tones that came from these pictures; also there was so many different photo opportunities. (not gonna lie i was kinda waiting for austin powers to join us).

next was… the milkshake room. we got offered vanilla milkshakes when we walked in and honestly… im here for it. this was more like the corner of a room but they got all their bases covered. the top picture of katelyn reminds me of the quote “kiss the boys and make them cry”. (ps. here is a link to the song, because i know you’re going to be looking it up anyway.)

KAW_4400

last room upstairs was a sprinkle/ice cream basketball court type thing with a small bowling alley (there wasn’t any hoops and you couldn’t touch the bowling stuff but we danced HARD in this room because as we walked in they bumped some vintage JT).

KAW_4547KAW_4562

you finish off by getting some ice cream (cup or cone) and looking at some cool wall art ( like these sprinkle lips!)

at a cost of $25 a ticket i think we would all agree it was totally worth the money for us! we had fun trying all the ice cream and walking around getting some killer instagrams. i think this would be a cute place to bring kids until 10 because of the ball pit and sugar buzz! just keep in mind, if you aren’t a kid or you are an adult who doesn’t care for taking a bunch of pictures this probably isn’t the experience for you!

are you a cup or a cone kind of person?? let me know!

around flagstaff // local fav

well hello there.

this past weekend katelyn and i ventured to flagstaff for a quick day trip. we just finished our finals (woo!) this week and winter break has officially begun.

apparently day trips to flagstaff aren’t as common as i thought but never the less i dragged Katelyn from her home at 8am and we had deep meaningful conversations for two and a half hours up the mountain! we first stopped at steep leaf lounge which, tbh is the real reason i wanted to go to flagstaff.

KAW_3113

(i got a a pumpkin chai latte with almond milk and katelyn got an iced peach white tea and we both indulged in macarons)

after steep we went to find katelyn’s sister, steph. we went to lunch at trail crest brewing company.

KAW_3184

i had french fries and french onion soup which was nice, but katelyn and steph’s meals were not stellar so maybe skip this place when you go.

i then told steph: “bring me to your trees” because driving up seeing all of the pine trees and the muted greens made me so excited! she brought us to the north side of campus (but literally there were trees freaking everywhere) and we parked and messed about with the camera (see below).

once we felt we had collected a sufficient amount of instagrams we dropped steph back at her dorm and carried on back downtown to shop at a place called shoes and such which has not only adorable clothes but great deals!

we met up with some friends and then finished the night by driving home! although it was a short trip, it was nice to be able to get away for the day and get to some real fall weather!
